Gwybodaeth i Newyddiadurwyr

Mae rôl y cyfryngau wrth godi ymwybyddiaeth ynghylch natur ac effeithiau cam-drin yn y cartref a’r gwasanaethau cefnogi sydd ar gael i bobl sy’n dioddef y cam-drin yn hanfodol. Gydag 1 o bob 4 menyw’n dioddef cam-drin ar ryw adeg yn ystod eu bywyd, bydd eich cynulleidfa / darllenwyr / cydweithwyr yn siŵr o gynnwys miloedd sydd yn neu sydd wedi dioddef cam-drin neu sy’n poeni am rywun maen nhw’n ei adnabod.

Ond, gan fod unigedd cymdeithasol yn ffactor mawr mewn deinameg perthynas dreisgar, mae pobl a phlant sy’n dioddef cam-drin yn gallu teimlo’u bod ar eu pennau eu hunain ac mai arnyn nhw mae’r bai am y cam-drin. Mae’r cyfryngau’n disgrifio’r hyn sydd yn amlwg – i unrhyw un sy’n gweithio yn y maes – yn berthynas dreisgar fel ‘priodas gythryblus’ neu ‘perthynas drwblus’ yn cyfleu’n anghywir raddfa o gydraddoldeb o fewn perthynas sydd, mewn gwirionedd, yn cynnwys un partner, gwrywaidd fel arfer, yn ceisio rheoli a dominyddu’r partner arall, benywaidd fel arfer. Trwy fethu â disgrifio perthynas dreisgar fel hyn, a thrwy fethu â lleoli stori’n cynnwys cam-drin yn y cartref o fewn cyd-destun ehangach cam-drin yn y cartref, gallai’r cyfryngau atal menyw rhag cydnabod bod ei pherthynas hi yn un dreisgar ac felly’n ei hatal rhag cysylltu â gwasanaethau cefnogi.

Mae Cymorth i Fenywod Cymru wedi paratoi Cyfarwyddyd Cyfryngau i newyddiadurwyr yng Nghymru sy’n gweithio ar straeon sy’n ymwneud â cham-drin yn y cartref (isod)
