Violence, abuse, bullying: an untold story of disabled people living in Wales

The EHRC are currently conducting a Formal Inquiry into disability-related harrassment, whereby they will examine the experiences of disabled people, their families, friends and carers, as well as examining whether those who have experienced harrassment have been supported or not by public authorities.

Important: Sojourner Project - Extended until 17th September 2010

The Sojourner Project is for women with no recourse to public funds, who entered the UK on a spousal visa and are eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) under the Domestic Violence Rule.

What We Offer

Specialist areas within Welsh Women’s Aid

Training & Development

  • Ensures ongoing development of a programme of training that will assist member groups in the delivery of quality services.
  • Provides training to external organisations, particularly in relation to raising awareness of the key issues surrounding domestic abuse.

Places can be booked through Rhian Jones, the Training & Development Coordinator, or Becky Jones.

Welsh Women’s Aid is a national Open College Network (OCN) centre and is able to deliver accredited qualifications.

Welsh Women's Aid are currently advertising our OCN Accredited Level 3 Domestic Abuse Awareness Training to any organisations and agencies that want a better understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse in Wales.  Legal Services

  • Provides member groups with legal information, updates and training in a range of legal areas.
  • Provides responses to consultation papers on behalf of Welsh Women’s Aid.

Housing Services

  • Provides member groups with information and training on housing and supported housing issues, including homelessness, supporting people and welfare benefits.

Welsh Women’s Aid is an Accredited Support Provider (ASP).

  • Monitors and reviews the Supporting People services for those member groups WWA is ASP for, as per the regulations defined by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Statistics

Welsh Women’s Aid collect statistics from member groups to provide an overview of the number of women and children who use Women’s Aid services in different areas across Wales.

  • Compiles the Annual Statistical Report and provides up-to-date statistics to WWA National staff, WWA member groups, Welsh Assembly Government and other organisations.

Children & Young People’s Services

  • Runs the ‘Children Matter’ project - promoting greater consistency and quality standards in the delivery and development of children and young people’s services amongst member groups.
  • Promotes children’s rights throughout the organisation and within groups.
  • Educates and informs children and young people about healthy relationships, and help protect them from the negative impact of domestic abuse.
