WWA supports Welsh Government's 6 Nations Domestic Abuse Campaign

Communities Minister, Carl Sargeant launched a campaign today (3rd Feb) to tackle the increased levels of domestic violence that occur around the time of major sporting events such as the Six Nations rugby tournament.

First Minister launches Christmas domestic abuse campaign with WWA's support

Today (5th December), the Welsh Government launched their Christmas campaign to tackle domestic abuse. The launch took place in Cardiff City Centre, where a giant Letter to Santa was set up to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of domestic abuse on children and young people. This is the second stage of the Welsh Government's "Live Fear Free" campaign to tackle violence against women in Wales.

"Domestic abuse is a hidden problem but it affects so many women and children in Wales - the statistics are shocking. We are proud to support Welsh Women's Aid in their vital work supporting women and children. If you would like to volunteer as a Helpline Support Worker on the Wales Domestic Abuse helpline, please contact the Helpline's adminstrative line on (01286) 882733 or email. Full training will be provided.

Are you looking to make a positive change for

women in YOUR local community?

Lliw Valley Women’s Aid is currently recruiting mentors to volunteer as part of an emerging Mentoring Programme within The Bridge Project. 

 The Mentoring Programme will involve the development of a one to one relationship between a client and a personal mentor, based on trust, confidentiality and mutual involvement, with the goal of offering practical assistance and support.  

 Volunteers will receive free comprehensive training and expenses.

 Women only need apply. Exemption sought under section 7(2) (e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

    Neath Women’s Aid supports women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Following the recent appointment of a manager, we are embarking on a programme of change to expand and improve our services.

    We can offer you the opportunity to …

    • Gain experience of working on a board of trustees.
    • Work as part of a team of supportive, committed women.

    We will expect you to bring …

    • A commitment to helping women and their children survive domestic abuse.
    • A belief in empowering women.
    • A strong but inclusive leadership style.
    • Relevant skills and experience.
    • Willingness to spend time - about 12 hours a month - on our work.

    We particularly need trustees with expertise in finance and marketing but welcome women with other areas of skill and experience or who have personal experience of domestic abuse.

    Training, support and expenses are provided.
