WWA supports Welsh Government's 6 Nations Domestic Abuse Campaign

Communities Minister, Carl Sargeant launched a campaign today (3rd Feb) to tackle the increased levels of domestic violence that occur around the time of major sporting events such as the Six Nations rugby tournament.

First Minister launches Christmas domestic abuse campaign with WWA's support

Today (5th December), the Welsh Government launched their Christmas campaign to tackle domestic abuse. The launch took place in Cardiff City Centre, where a giant Letter to Santa was set up to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of domestic abuse on children and young people. This is the second stage of the Welsh Government's "Live Fear Free" campaign to tackle violence against women in Wales.

SE Wales Women’s Aid Regional Development Worker

£24,402 - £26,016 p.a.

The SE Wales Consortium of Women’s Aid organisations have been awarded funding from the Equalities and Human Rights Commission for a Third Year to deliver an exciting strategic programme of development for the movement with the aim of strengthening, improving, and safeguarding specialist women only Domestic Abuse services, and facilitating collaboration on a regional basis.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating regional development activities and strategic planning processes, including coordinating working groups and service user engagement. This is a complex and demanding project requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to think strategically.

This full-time post (37.5 hours p.w) will be employed and managed by Torfaen Women’s Aid on behalf of the Consortium Members and will be based in Pontypool.  It is a fixed term contract running until 4th January 2013.  This position could be offered as a Secondment Opportunity (please seek agreement from the appropriate person within your group prior to applying for secondment)

Trustees

Approximately 6 - 10 hours per month
Our Trustee Board is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation,legal compliance and financial oversight. You must be willing to be actively involved in shaping the organisations’ future and able to attend monthly meetings as a minimum. We particularly welcome applications from women with expertise in finance, law, HR or the voluntary sector.
