WWA supports Welsh Government's 6 Nations Domestic Abuse Campaign

Communities Minister, Carl Sargeant launched a campaign today (3rd Feb) to tackle the increased levels of domestic violence that occur around the time of major sporting events such as the Six Nations rugby tournament.

First Minister launches Christmas domestic abuse campaign with WWA's support

Today (5th December), the Welsh Government launched their Christmas campaign to tackle domestic abuse. The launch took place in Cardiff City Centre, where a giant Letter to Santa was set up to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of domestic abuse on children and young people. This is the second stage of the Welsh Government's "Live Fear Free" campaign to tackle violence against women in Wales.

Domestic Violence Awareness Training - OCN Accredited Level 3

OVERVIEW

Welsh Women’s Aid offers this training which is Accredited by Agored (Open College Network) to raise awareness about the complexities of domestic violence.

  • To identify what domestic violence is;
  • Consider the myths, the effects on victims and the impact on their life chances along with the types of services that are offered in Wales.

Welsh Women’s Aid has over 30 years of experience in working with women and children who are or have been victims of domestic violence. AIM : To gain knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse

THE TRAINING: The Domestic Violence Awareness Training is a one day course designed to:

  • Raise awareness of Domestic Violence
  • Understand the impact and effects of Domestic Violence

It aims to enable those who work in the social sectors  to understand the impact of domestic violence and learn what provisions are available to help support victims in Wales.

THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: This course is a Level 3, single Credit, Agored (Open College Network) Accredited Course. It has three learning outcomes:

  • Understand various forms and effects of domestic violence
  • Know how social construction and stereotypes relate to domestic violence.
  • Understand the impact of domestic violence.

The course accounts for a total of ten hours learning. Candidates will need to attend a day’s training and compile a portfolio of evidence for submission and assessment. This course is linked to the Qualifications and Credit Framework Wales.
