WWA supports Welsh Government's 6 Nations Domestic Abuse Campaign

Communities Minister, Carl Sargeant launched a campaign today (3rd Feb) to tackle the increased levels of domestic violence that occur around the time of major sporting events such as the Six Nations rugby tournament.

First Minister launches Christmas domestic abuse campaign with WWA's support

Today (5th December), the Welsh Government launched their Christmas campaign to tackle domestic abuse. The launch took place in Cardiff City Centre, where a giant Letter to Santa was set up to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of domestic abuse on children and young people. This is the second stage of the Welsh Government's "Live Fear Free" campaign to tackle violence against women in Wales.

Wales Women’s National Coalition invites you to participate in their International Women’s Day event for 2010.

They will be publishing a short anthology of poetry and creative prose in celebration of women under the title of ‘The Voice of Women in Wales’.

A panel of judges will select entries to be included in the anthology, which will be published in March 2010.

On the panel are;

  • Shelagh Weeks
  • Jeni Williams
  • Jo Verity
  • Sarah Edmonds
  • Menna Elfyn

Entries in English and Welsh are welcome.

This is an excellent opportunity for entrants to engage in public expression and to see their work in print.

Entrants must be:

  • Women From Wales or currently living in Wales
  • 16-116 years of age

Creative prose should be no longer than 750 words, and poetry should be no longer than 30 lines.

The deadline for entries is 31/12/09.

We would prefer to receive your entries via e-mail to Llinos Merriman.

Alternatively, copies can be sent to Wales Women’s National Coalition, Anchor Court, Keen Road, Cardiff, CF24 5JW.
